The Quest for the Grail
by Jeanne du Nord
From the most ancient times,
man has used symbols to express his needs and desires. The Cornucopia
that overflowed with food, the Magic Cauldron that restored life
to the dead, the Cup of Knowledge that imparted mystical insight,
and the Grail that yielded spiritual enlightenment all became
mythological symbols of the quest which sets man apart from earth's
other creatures.
In the 6th Century, a great leader arose, Arthur, whose spirit
answered the longings of the people. Arthur fought for equality,
independence and each individual's freedom to find and be responsible
for his own destiny. This was 500 years before the Magna Carta!
Arthur's story fused with the ancient myths and Celtic tales
and has been re-told in each succeeding generation. It will endure
into the 21st Century and beyond, ever-restored like the Green
Knight, because Arthur's spirit lives on in each of us. As the
myth says, 'He will arise at the time of Man's greatest need."
The immortal story of Arthur, his knights and ladies, and
the quest for The Grail, is a guide for the future of Man.
